y = 2x + 6

y = -3x + 1

Equality

2x + 6 = -3x + 1 6 is in the left side and is positive so we substract 6 in both sides

2x +6 - 6 = -3x + 1 - 6

Simplify

2x = -3x - 5

Add -3x in both sides

2x + 3x = -3x + 3x - 5

Simplify

5x = -5

2x + 3x = 1 - 6

5x = -5

x = -5/5

This is the x-coordinate

x = -1
