12 candles were shipped. x × 3/4 = 9 + 3.
X = 12

total weight = 12
weight of box =3
12 - 3 = 9 lbs of candles
So how many times does .75 or 3/4 go into 9?
9/.75= 12, so 12 candles were shipped
