if 1/2 0f 3 gallons was used then the remainding gallon would be 1.5 gallons.
and 1.5 gallons is equal to 6 quarts so he used 6 quarts

First, find 1/2 of 3. That is 1.5 gallons. Since there are 4 quarts in a gallon, do 1.5*4 to get
