Well the molar mass can be determined by looking at the amu's on the periodic table(see ex picture).
Let's say the question was what's the molar mass of water (H2O).
H- 1.0079... -rounded is 1.008
H-2(1.008)=2.016
O-15.9994 -rounded is 15.999
O-1(15.999)=15.999
15.999+2.016=18.015 g/mole=molar mass
