First compute the mean:
$\overline x=\displaystyle\frac1n\sum_(i=1)^nx_i$ .

The sample standard deviation is then

$\displaystyle\sqrt{\sum_(i=1)^n((\overline x-x_i)^2)/(n-1)}$
