In order to solve for 2 unknowns in an equation, you need 2 equations.

A) 2X + 3Y = 12B) 3X - 4Y = 1For example, you couldn't solve for "X" and "Y" unless you had equation A AND equation B

To solve a linear equation, you graph it and see where the graph intercepts the x-axis. You can either graph it on a calculator or you can set y to 0 and solve for x!
