The Roman law system was divided into just scriptum that was a written law and jus non scriptum, unwritten law (customs). People were a part of the process of creating “leges”, by assemblies of whole Roman people, there common people or plebeians had their own council. Romans were the first ones to creat a civil code that inspired the Napoleon Code which inspired many Civil Codes in the world. This was a strong contribution to our legal system and politics.
