A store clerk has 45 shirts to pack in boxes. Each box holds 6 shirts. What is the fewest boxes the clerk will need to pack all the shirts

45/6= 7.5
The fewest amount of boxes the clerk will need is 8 boxes

You have that one box holds 6 shirts. How many boxes are needed for 45 shirts?

We also have to remember that the number of boxes is a natural value. This means that we have to round the value that we find in the rule of three upwards.

So

1 box - 6 shirts

x boxes - 45 shirts


6x = 45


x = (45)/(6)


x = 7.5

Rounding upwards, the fewest boxes the clerk will need to pack all the shirts is 8.
