The Haymarket Square incident occurred on May 4th, 1886.

It was a bombing that took place at a labor demonstration in Haymarket Square, Chicago.

The reason for the demonstration was a peaceful protest(on strike) for an eight-hour workday and the response to the killing of several works the previous day by police officers.

a labor protest rally near Chicago's Haymarket Square turned into a riot after someone threw a bomb at police. At least eight people died as a result of the violence that day. Despite a lack of evidence against them, eight radical labor activists were convicted in connection with the bombing. Hope this helps :)
