To keep heating costs down for a structure, architects want the ratio of surface area to volume as small as possible. An expression for the ratio of the surface area to volume for the square prism shown is 2b+4h/bh. Find the ratio when b = 15 ft and h = 10 ft.

For the answer to the question above,
10/12 can be simplified down
I would divide both sides by 2 for starters, then you can see if it needs to be simplified more
10/2=5
12/2=6
Since you have an odd and an even number, you can't simplify it anymore, as 5 and 6 have no common numbers.
The correct answer is 5/6

Answer:

The ratio is
(7)/(15) when b = 15 ft and h = 10 ft.

Explanation:

The ratio of the surface area to volume for the square prism is given by the expression

(2b+4h)/(bh)

We have to find the ratio when b = 15 ft and h = 10 ft.

Substitute b=15 and h=10 in the given expression.

(2(15)+4(10))/((15)(10))

(30+40)/(150)

(70)/(150)

(7)/(15)

Therefore the ratio is
(7)/(15) when b = 15 ft and h = 10 ft.
