if a grizzly bears heart beat drops by 10 beats when it hibernates which is 20% of its normal value what is the bears normal heart rate when not hibernating.

To find the answer, you set up an equation:

You put the 20% into decimal form by sliding the decimal place two spaces to the left. The "x" represents the grizzly bear's normal heart rate.

10 = .20x

Now, you divide both sides by .20

You should get:

50 = x

A grizzly bear's normal heart rate when it is not hibernating is 50 beats per minute.
