The law Twelve Tables, is the first official written text in ancient Rome, written 450, BC. It represents the result of a plebeian request, who felt that they did not have enough participation in making important decisions after the establishment of the Republic. Until then, only the patrician participated in the court hierarchy. Writing the law was entrusted to a commission composed of ten people - decemviri. Under this law, all citizens of the Republic were treated equally. The fundamentals of this law lasted for a thousand years and represent the basis of the Roman Law.
