A retail store offers all television sets at 80%, or 80100, of their original price if the customer buys a store membership for $100. If p is the price of a television set, which expression represents the amount that a new customer will have to pay to get the discount? How much will a $1,500 television cost (including the membership fee) if the costomer gets the discounted price?

Let x be the amount the amount that new customer will have to pay. So:

x = 0.8P + 100

Given that the television is $1500, the discounted price is $1200.

But the customer will have to pay the membership of $100.

Therefore the total amount is $1300.

Hope this helped :)
