Well you can make a proportion to see if the values (2 miles in 1/2 hour and 1 mile in 15 minutes) are equal to each other or not.

**We need to convert 15 minutes into hours --> 15 minutes / 60 minutes = 1/4 hour
\frac{2 \text{ miles}}{ (1)/(2) \text{ hours} } = \frac{1 \text{ mile}}{ (1)/(4) \text {hour}}

Cross-multiply...
1/2(1) = 2(1/4) *is this true?
1/2 = 2/4 *if you simplify 2/4 by dividing the numerator and denominator by 2 you get 1/2
1/2 = 1/2 **this is correct!

So it is true!

2 miles = 1/2 hour (a whole hour is 60 mins so half of that is 30 mins) 1 mile = 15 mins (15 mins is half of 30 mins) so yes its true
