Both forms of the energy currency molecule, ATP and ADP contain respective energy content in the chemical bonds of the molecules, ATP is degraded and or undergoes hydrolysis to form ADP and an additional inorganic phosphate and through this process not only a great deal of energy is available through the breaking of bonds, but also within the chemical bonds in ADP and phosphate as well.
