So if Jacob works x shifts, he works for a total of
2 (1)/(2) hours, and each shift is
(3)/(4) hours, the equation can be set up as;

2 (1)/(2) =x* (3)/(4) \\( (4)/(3) )*2 (1)/(2) =(x* (3)/(4))*( (4)/(3) )\\ (4)/(3) * (5)/(2) =x\\x= (20)/(6) =3 (1)/(3)
So Jacob worked
3 (1)/(3)shifts
