group and factor out the linear coefient
(3x^2+4x)+?=1+????
3(x^2+4/3x)+?=1+????
4/3 divided by 2 is 2/3
2/3 squared is 4/9
add negative and negative inside
3(x^2+4/3x+4/9-4/9)+?=1+????
factor perfect square
3((x+2/3)^2-4/9)+?=1+????
distribute
3(x+2/3)^2-4/3+?=1+????
add 4/3 to both sides
3(x+2/3)^2+?=7/3+????
minus? from both sides
3(x+2/3)^2=7/3+????-?
dunno what missing number is, maybe
hmm
4/9 times 3=4/3
the missing number is 4/3
