Chlorophylls (green pigments of the plant) absorb light most strongly in the blue portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, but also the red portion. On the other hand, chlorophylls are a poor absorber of green portions of the spectrum, which it reflects and thus produce the green color of chlorophyll-containing tissues (that’s how plants are green).
