Let
x be the average salary of an employee. Since the salary of the business man is 6 times the average salary of an employee, his salary will be
6x. We also know that the sum of the salary of the businessman and the average salaries of his 10 employees is 640000, so:

6x+10x=64000
Solving for
x:

16x=64000

x= (64000)/(16)

x=4000
The average salary of an employee is 4000, so the salary of the businessman will be
6*4000=24000.

We can conclude that the business man's salary that year was 24000.
