1. Devin is making a candle by pouring melted wax into a mold in the shape of a square pyramid with base sides of 9 cm and the height of the pyramid is 10 cm. Devin is using wax cubes with dimensions, 4 cm by 4 cm by 4 cm, to form the candle. How many whole wax cubes will Devin need to make the candle? Show your work.

The number of cubes that Devin will need to make will be given by:
(volume of each pyramid wax)/volume of cube
volume of cube=length*width*height
=4×4×4
=64 cm³
volume of the candle=1/3π*(base area)*h
=1/3×(9×9)×10
=270 cm³
number of cubes needed
270/64
=4.21875~4.23 cubes
