A depression in the ground due to a cave collapse or acidic water dissolution of limestone is called SINKHOLE.
Sinkhole is typically a cavity in the ground that is caused by water erosion and which provides a path for surface water to move to underground; it especially occur in limestone formation. Sinkholes are very common in places where there are plenty of soluble rocks.
