Why is heterochromatin usually not sequenced in genomic projects?

Because heterochromatin contains many short repeated sequences that make it hard to assemble into large contigs; also, it contains few genes, so less interesting

Because of this, the research on heterochromatin reports is considered to be less efficient considering the purpose of the Genomic project is to map genes of the human genome from the Functional standpoint.
