It was deeper and more intimate than the fear of evil and capricious gods and of magic, the fear of the forest, and of the forces of nature, malevolent, red in tooth and claw. Okonkwo’s fear was greater than these. It was not external but lay deep within himself. In this excerpt from Things Fall Apart, what is it that Okonkwo fears more than anything else?

Okonkwo was more afraid of becoming his father. Mostly because his father was not the man Okonkwo wanted him to be.

If I had to guess, it would be "turning out just like his father".
