It is important to have future goals because without them you will be all over the place meaning that you will not be organized and you will not know what you want to do with yourself. It helps you stay on track.

A=ALWAYS BE PREPARED
R= READY FOR THE INEVITABLE
T=TIME

If you do not have future goals you will not have something to work twards. Inadvertently people are always making goals like finishing homework before watching tv, but specific knowledge biased goals help you achieve things for the long term.
