Since there are 6 sides on a die: (a) There is a 1 in 6 chance that you would roll a 5. (b) There is a 6/6 chance that you will or will not roll a 5, since you must roll the die and it must land on a number.
(c) There is a 5/6 chance that you will not roll a 5, since there are 5 numbers other than 5.

A. The probability that you roll a 5 is 1/6 because there are 6 sides on a die, and only one side contains a 5.

B. The probability that you either roll a 5 or not roll a 5 is 6/6 because the die is going to land on 5 or any other side that isn't five.
