The number was x.
He needed to do 41 * x which is 41x.
He mistakenly did 14 * x which is 14x.
14x = 41x - 567
567 = 27x
x = 567/27
x = 21
Answer: The number is 21.

41×21=861
14×21=294
861-294=567
