Elizabeth Cady Stanton concentrated her efforts on abolishing slavery during the civil war. She became involved in the abolitionist movement after a progressive upbringing.

I read her diary! Her role was she wrote the “Declaration of Sentiments” that called for equal rights for women and began pushing more loudly for suffrage for women.
