Explanation:

ABE is an enlarged triangle of ADE.

AD is enlarged to AB, ED enlarged to CB, AE enlarged to AC.

To find CE; an equation can be formed:

AE / AC = AD / AB

4 / CE + 4 = 8 / 8 + 2

4 / CE + 4 = 8 / 10

40 = 8CE + 32

8CE = 40 - 32

8CE = 8

CE = 1 ft
