The passage of the Constitution was not an easy task, many points were discussed on the Convention so all States were on board with the new Constitution. One of the main points of discussion was how each state would be represented under the Constitution.
The Connecticut Compromise solved the problem by creating a bicameral legislature, with proportional representation of the states in the lower house and the upper house the states would be represented equally among the states.
But the larger states did not agree with the fact that the upper house could originate revenue bills since they would be equally represented as the smaller states. Benjamin Franklin’s role was very important since he modified the original proposal and required that revenue bills would originate in the house, where the larger states would have more influence.
