Read this excerpt from The Iliad. First give thy faith, and plight a prince's word Of sure protection, by thy power and sword; For I must speak what wisdom would conceal, And truths, invidious to the great, reveal, Bold is the task, when subject, grown too wise Instruct a monarch where his error lies; The term invidious means likely to cause anger or upset. What ideas from the excerpt support this definition?

Well, I see two examples of how it supports the definition:

1. " For I must speak what wisdom would conceal, and truths invidious to the great reveal"
I think he is saying here that it is his duty to speak the truth despite the anger and the "words of the wise". No matter what wisdom may tell him, the truth must be revealed.

2. "Bold is the task"

Here he is saying that many people would not choose to walk this path, as it may lead to harsh results. But it is somethung he must do.

There are others here, but these are the two that stuck out to me the most, hope I helped!
