SIMPLIFY BOTH SIDES OF THE EQUATION

2^(2) - 6x = 56

4 + -6x = 56

-6x + 4 = 56

SUBTRACT 4 FROM BOTH SIDES
-6x + 4 = 56
- 4 -4
___________
-6x = 52

DIVIDE BOTH SIDES BY -6 (NEGATIVE 6)

(-6x)/(-6) = (52)/(-6)

x = (-26)/(3)

FINAL ANSWER:
x = (-26)/(3)
