Your answer is A because if you replace x and y in the equations with 5 and -4 both equations make sense.

We have the following system of equations:
4x + y = 16
2x + 3y = -2
Let's rewrite the system of equations:
4x + y = 16
-4x + -6y = 4
Adding both equations we have:
-5y = 20
Clearing y:
y = -20 / 5
y = -4
Then, we look for the value of x:
x = (16-y) / 4
x = (16 - (- 4)) / 4
x = (16 + 4) / 4
x = (20) / 4
x = 5
The ordered pair solution is:
(x, y) = (5, -4)
Answer:
(x, y) = (5, -4)
option A
