Suppose it is x = the number

Suppose that h is the factor by which we want to multiply the number to double its square root.
So we have to:

√ (hx) = 2√x.

We solve the equation for us and that:

hx = 4x
h = 4.

You must multiply by 4 to duplicate the square root
