The Aryans, a mobile herding people, laid the foundation for Hinduism in India.
This group of people migrated into India and Pakistan from the wast plains of Central Asia. They brought their way of living, culture, beliefs, and they mixed with the native Dravidian population. They managed to mix with the Dravidian people very well in every aspect, and they had a big influence on them with their beliefs, which also took on some Dravidian traits, thus the Hinduism started to form.
