Given the equation of the circle x2+6x+y2=7 use completing the square and factoring to write the equation in standard form


x {}^(2) + 6x + y {}^(2) = 7
.

x2+6x+y2=7

We add 9 to each side of the equation

x2+6x+y2 + 9 =7 + 9

(x+3)**2 + (y+0)**2 = 16

(x+3)**2 + (y+0)**2 = 4**2 (Standard form)
