47 ÷ 6 = 7 remainder 5

⇒ We need 7 cars which will hold 6 x 7 = 42 people
⇒ We have 5 people remaining.
⇒The 5 people will go into the last car.

Answer 5 people.

So there are 47 people that need to be placed into cars; each car can hold 6 people. If we divide 47 by 6 we get the number of cars filled, which is 7 and 5/6. This means that there will be 7 cars that are completely filled and 5 people left to board the last car. Hope that helps :)
