Hello there!

Without graphing, determine whether the function represents exponential growth or exponential decay y = 2(0.65)

We know that this is exponential decay because it is a decimal less than 1.

For this to be exponential growth,it would need to be y = 2(1.65)^x

I hope I helped!

Answer:

Exponential decay.

Explanation:

We have been given the formula of a function
y=2(0.65)^x and we are asked to determine whether our given function represents exponential growth or exponential decay.

Since we know that an exponential function is in form:
y=a*b^x, where,

a = Initial value of function,

b = For growth b is in form (1+r) and for decay b is in form (1-r), where r represents rate in decimal form.

Upon comparing our given function with standard exponential function we can see that a = 2 and b = 0.65. Since b is less than 1, therefore, our given function represents exponential decay.
