you have to get all the like terms on one side so you would add 8 to both sides and you would cancel out the one 8 and then you would be left with 2y=-3y-10 and then you would add 3y to both sides and it would cancle out te 3 and you would have 5y=10 and then you would divide by 5 and you would get y=2
