The perimeter is the sum of the sides:
P = (x-7) + (x + 1) + (x)
Rewriting:
P = 3x - 6
The area is given by:
A = (1/2) * (x-7) * (x)
The area and the perimeter are the same:
(1/2) * (x-7) * (x) = 3x - 6
Rewriting:
(x-7) * (x) = 6x - 12
x ^ 2-7x = 6x - 12
x ^ 2 - 7x - 6x + 12 = 0
x ^ 2 - 13x + 12 = 0
