In a response of at least 2 paragraphs of at least 4 sentences each, discuss if you agree or disagree with the Romantics on their belief that nature is the greatest teacher and mankind should slow down and listen to nature a little more often.

It is easy to agree with this idea.

Nature, in its many forms, is a great teacher. It is possible to learn from the way plants grow or the way animals treat one another. The life of a rose can teach us that life is short but beautiful. The life of a spider teaches the importance of hard work and patience.

The Romantics were correct when they argued that nature is a great teacher. All too often people dismiss the natural world as unimportant or irrelevant. In reality, the opposite is true: nature is important and relevant. We are learning that lesson today, as the natural world is suffering thanks to mankind -- the extinction of species and pollution are just two of these negative effects man has had on the natural world. If we do not listen more closely to nature as the Romantics said, things could get even worse. Therefore people should slow down and listen to nature more often.
