The revolution began on October 9th when the attention of the local police was drawn by an accidental explosion of a bomb in a house in Wuchang Russian Settlement. The incident revealed a list of names of revolutionaries with their identities and plans, causing the insurgents to strike at once, attacking the imperial forces in the city of Wuchang. The rebellion caused panic among the officials and the imperial house but they chose to remain neutral. As a result, the dynasty fell rapidly and the insurgents became the masters of China.
