Hey there :)

2 angles are complementary if the sum of their measure 90°
Find measure of 2 complementary angles if one angle is 17 times the other angle.

Let us translate the sentence into mathematics

Let x represent the unknown angle
17 times the unknown is 17x

17x + x = 90
18x = 90

(18x)/(18) = (90)/(18)

x = 5

The smaller angle measure 5
°

Your answer = 20.

Sense the bigger angle would be 70 times bigger, and there sum would be 90, 20 + 7 would be 7 times bigger which would be 20 + 70 = 90°.

Your answer = 20
