Both the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims and the Court of Federal Claims are federal courts instituted under Article I of the United States Constitution. Both have judges appointed by the President of the United States, approved by the United States Senate, and serve a 15-year term.
While the court of Appeals for Veterans Claims has exclusive national jurisdiction to present independent, federal, judicial oversight and evaluation of final decisions of the Board of Veterans' Appeals, the Court of Federal Claims is established following Congress's authority to hear monetary cases against the U.S. government and does not have jurisdiction in the decisions of the Board of Veterans' Appeals.
