If you ever needed to lift a heavy/large object to an inaccessible area, for example, if you lived in an apartment building on a higher floor and needed to get a prebuilt couch (screw ikea) up there.

Pulleys can be used to lift heavy objects that otherwise may not be able to be lifted. They reduce the amount of force it takes to lift a load.
