You decide to plant a bulb garden. You want the length of the rectangular garden to be 3 feet longer than its width. The bulbs that you have will cover 88 square feet. What should the length and the width be?

Sorry I am so late to answer this but the width would be 8ft and the length would be 11ft really hope this helps.

Alright, lets get started.

Suppose the width of the garden is = x

And we know the fact that length of the rectangular garden to be 3 feet longer than its width.

So, the length will be =
x+3

So, the area of the garden will be =
length * width

area of the garden =
(x+3)*x

area of the garden =
x^2 + 3x

The area specified for the garden is given 88 square feet. So


x^2 + 3x = 88

Subtracting 88 from both sides


x^2 + 3x - 88 = 88-88


x^2 + 3x - 88 = 0


(x-8)(x+11)= 0

Means

x = 8 or x = -11

Negative value of x is not possible, so

x = 8

Means width of the garden = 8 feet

So, length of the garden will be =
8+3 = 11 feet : Answer
