Multiply the original 16.40 lb by the conversion factor (1 kg) / (2.20462 lb):

16.40
------------- kg = 7.44 kg. Round off to 2 decimal places because 16.40 lb is
2.20462 accurate only to 2 dec. places.

If there are 2.20462 pounds in a kilogram.

We have to find how many kilograms can Jennifer’s shelf support.

Let x kilogram can Jennifer’s shelf support.

By definition of proportion :

(16.40)/(2.20462) = (x)/(1)
