Would he not suddenly sink into the earth, leaving a barren and blasted spot, where, in due course of time, would be seen deadly nightshade, dogwood, henbane, and whatever else of vegetable wickedness the climate could produce, all flourishing with hideous luxuriance? (15.1)

No no he wouldn't. there is no sudden sink into the earth. It's more of a very slow process of biological flourishment through the natural cycle of decomposition. also, ide hardly call it hideous. the natural way of life is astonishingly beautiful. we as humans thing we've got it all figured out but nature has been around doing her thing long before us, and God willing, looong after our diseased husk we call bodies are occupying this space. consciousness is a cancer amongst the animal of men and women and shall therefore be our Achilles heel
