2x - 8 = 5x + 12
*minus 2x from both sides to get variable on one side.
-8 = 3x + 12
* minus 12 from both sides to get whole number on opposite side of variable
-20 = 3x
*Finally, divide. 20/3

X= 6.6666...
And to write this in simpler form, you must draw a mine over the first six AFTER the decimal point This represents that 6 is a continuing number. :)
