The box has a rectangular base of 5 inches wide and 33 inches long. To protect the items she will need a cover of with the same dimensions: a rectangle of 5 inches wide and 33 inches long. To find its area, we are going to use the area of a rectangle formula:
A=wl
where

A is the are in square inches

w is the width

l is the length
Since we know that
w=5 and
l=33, lets replace those values in our formula:

A=(5)(33)

A=165

We can conclude that Beth will need 165 square inches of felt to protect the items in the box.
