When the great depression of theĀ 1930s was taking place, President Roosevelt used the radio to communicate to the Americans through plain language that explained complex issues and programmes in 30 speeches which became the "fireside chats". He touched on issues of banking, unemployment which saw millions of people renewing their hope and confidence.
